Western State Hospital Building 29 

Integrated Design Engineers (idE) partnered with the Washington Department of Enterprise Services to remodel one of the largest inpatient psychiatric hospitals west of the Mississippi, Western State Hospital in Lakewood, WA. Collaborating with NAC Architecture, our award-winning engineers provided essential structural engineering services for the renovation of Building 29. This project involved transforming the existing two-story C-Wing into a new forensic ward, complete with two new staircases, and remodeling the D-Wing into a recovery ward that features a new gymnasium. This initiative ensures that Western State Hospital remains a vital healthcare facility for Washington State and the Surrounding region.
